Week 69: Rubbing Elastics...

This week, my elastics have been rubbing the inside of my mouth raw. It's pretty annoying. I know that they're rubbing because my teeth are moving but still, I wish it would stop.

I'm now sporting a teal chain, not because it's been changed but because it's been stained. I noticed it yesterday evening when I was brushing my teeth, I was like omg! It's actually a pretty color. lol It has like a metallic teal color to it.

Anyway, I mentioned movement above. My right side and midline are moving little by little. But I've also noticed that I'm starting to develop a space between my upper and lower teeth as my midline moves. It's not very big right now but I think once my midline lines up, it will be a lot bigger and my uppers will be off.

I did a search about class 2 elastics and was reading that sometimes the class 2 elastics will fix your overjet problem but it will also open your bite up on one side and then you usually have to have a triangle or zigzag configuration.

Sooooo.... when I go to my next adjustment, I'm going to find out how true that is. That way if I do have to have zigzag elastics, then I can mentally prepare myself.

So I'll update soon.

Week 68: No More Pain and A Comparison

Everything has settled down and the pain is gone. :) So the sunshine and rainbows can continue. lol

Last night, I was comparing the pictures that my ortho took before I got braces to my current braced pictures and I was soooo shocked... For one, I forgot what my teeth used to look like and I was amazed that my teeth had changed so much. It honestly looks like someone else's mouth and not my own.

I haven't taken pictures for this week, so I really don't know what's going on with the current state of my teeth.. So I'll give an update once, I take some pictures.

Honestly, I really don't see anything new as far as a weekly teeth update..

But the comparison pictures are awesome! :D

48 Hours After: Feeling a Little Better

Howdy,

My teeth are still a bit sore but not as bad as yesterday. I still can't chew very well but each day gets better and less painful and then I'll forget about it until the next adjustment. Sorry about the vent yesterday... lol! But I guess that's part of the reason why I made this blog, so I can not only write about my happy, awesome moments but also the painful moments...

I tell you though, even though having braces can sometimes be painful, I don't regret it. I love not only that my teeth and bite are being fixed but it's also fixed my self esteem and self conciousness issues. So I'm glad that I'm going through it! :)

*I think the sunshine and rainbows attitude is starting to peek through the clouds. lol

24 Hours After Adjustment.... Everything Hurts!

Hi!

How am I faring after a full 24 hours? In pain!

My face, teeth, ear, jaw, head... everything is hurting!

My ortho really wasn't playing around with this adjustment... sheesh. I took some ibuprofen but it only dulls the pain slightly.

Plus, my elastics don't help out the situtation because they're pulling on tender teeth. Just insane.

I'll be all sunshine and rainbows in a few days.. but as for today, it's lightening, gloomy, rainy clouds and hail. lol!

Bye.

Adjustment 11: One word.... OUCH!

Hi!

Today I had my 11th adjustment and it was a doozy!

After I was called back to the row of chairs, a new ortho assistant started pulling my doors open, removing my powerchains and wires (Her opening the doors was awful. She yanked them open so fast and hard, I thought she was going to pull my teeth out of mouth.) and told me that I could go brush and even floss if I needed to. I was a little surprised because I usually don't brush at each adjustment.

So I brushed my teeth and let me tell you, just seeing my teeth with just the brackets on and no wires, I was excited about how straight my teeth look and how they're going to look so good once they come off.

Anywho, after  that was done, I sat back in the chair and a different ortho assistant started working on my teeth, I was given sunglasses to wear over my eyes. (Again, totally new to me and I don't know why.)

She gave me a new stainless steel upper wire and it was sooooooo tight going in the bracket..... I actually cried out a few times, because it hurt a bit going in... She put the bottom wire in but I later found out that it wasn't stainless steel because my 6s and 7s (?) still aren't straight enough for the new wire. But it still is a new thicker wire.. I would assume probably a NiTi.

I asked if the stainless steel wire would be my last one and she said I would have it for a little while, since they'll have to make bends in the wire. I was also given upper and lower powerchains, because I have to continue to wear elastics. And they want to prevent me from having gaps appear.

Oh I also am back in colored powerchains. I have blue upper and lower chains.. They're purty! :D

After the new wires, powerchains and elastics, in the same configuration.... My mouth is pretty tender and I have to go back to soft foods for a few days.

My ortho said everything is moving along nicely, I just need to make sure I wear my elastics like I'm supposed to and it will all be corrected in no time!

So to anyone who's wearing elastics or anyone getting them soon, Please please please, WEAR THEM! They really do work and your teeth will move pretty fast.

Well that's all for now, going to go get more pain meds.

Bye!

Week 66

Ohayo Gozimasu! (Good Morning in Japanese)

All is well in the braces world again! I went this morning and picked up a package of rubber bands from the ortho office. They were open today! :D So I can finally chill out.... sorry about the spazz out moment... I seriously don't want to delay my treatment.

I really don't have any teeth related news, everything still looks the same as last week... So I will not take any pictures for this week. I'll post my pictures from last week soon. Been a tad busy..

But that's all for now!

A Tad Frustrated..

Hi!

All the spazzing I did on Thursday, really didn't do any good. I'm still without rubber bands... (I know this will def. not happen again, I really should have paid more attention to how many rubber bands I had.)

I even got up super early this morning in order to go to the ortho just to pick the rubber bands up but the office is closed... and they're usually open around 7:15. Sigh.. I'll just have to call them a little later to see if they're open.. if they're still not open, then I'll have to call my ortho's cell again...

Blah, just frustrating....

Spazzy Moment

Hihi,

It's crazy how much of a spazz I am about my teeth.....

I was putting on my rubber bands after lunch and realized that I was running kind of low.. So I took the rubber bands and grouped them up based on morning, afternoon and night wear and I would only have enough to last me until Saturday... Which meant that I would have to go like a day and half without wearing any elastics. (Remember: I'm supposed to wear my elastics 24/7.....)

I figured I would be ok, since the ortho is open Monday- Thursday... So I called the office and got a recording saying that the office was closed... I figured since it was still pretty early in the day that maybe I could call a little bit later.. I called 3 to 4 more times and the result was still the same..

So I start freaking out about having to wait a day in a half without any elastics... and of course.. my imagination is running wild and i'm thinking that my teeth are going to suddenly shift back to how they used to look and I was like nooooooo!

Anyway, the recording did give my ortho's cell number... but it said if it's an emergency.. I was really overanalyzing and going back and forth with myself about whether not wearing my elastics for a day and half was considered an emergency... (I really didn't want to bother my ortho too much, but I guess that's his job)

I finally called my ortho's cell and asked him if he could send me another pack of elastics and he said sure, he'll mail them out to me... Problem solved...

I went through all that when all I had to do was call my ortho's cell in the first place.... I'm so weird... lol

Bye!
