Week 73: Nothing New

Merry Belated Christmas!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas! :) I have to admit, I ate way too many sweets. lol! (I made sure to brush a lot) But they were oh so good!

I really don't have anything tooth related, my teeth are pretty much in the same state as last week. I hardly had any pain last week, so I enjoyed my birthday dinner. :D But that's about it.

Maybe I'll have some new to report next week.

Happy New Year!

Week 72: Adjustment 12

Hi!

So this adjustment wasn't that bad. My ortho was going to try to give me a new wire for my lowers (17x25 stainless steel) But my 6 and 7's still aren't straight enough for the new wire. I mainly just had my powerchains changed and was told to stop wearing elastics for now. :D So I'm a bit happy that I don't have to worry about elastics.

I was told at my next adjustment, I'm going to have an x ray taken and then they might reposition some of my brackets, that sounds fun.

It was a pretty short and painless adjustment, which I like, especially after being in so much pain from my 11th adjustment.

That's all for now.

Week 71: A Couple Changes

Hi!

Been a bit busy but I finally had a little time to make a new post. :)

Anywho, I was looking at my right side and it's really starting to look good. There's still gaps but they're smaller. I also notice whenever I open my mouth my lowers don't look as slanted as they used to. My lower right side always looked lower than the lower left side and since I've been wearing rubber bands, and my teeth are moving, it's being corrected.

So I at least have something new to report. :p Oh and my 12th adjustment is almost here, so we'll see what kind of torture it's going to happen this next go round.. Makes me wonder if my ortho is going to start putting bends in my wire..

Just as long as I can eat by next Friday, since that's my birthday and I want to be able to enjoy my birthday dinner. lol!

I'll add pictures soon, I promise. Pictures were deleted :(

Later!

Week 70: Happy 16 Monthiversary!

Time is really moving! I will be out of braces before I know it. :D That makes me happy, especially on days like today where my elastics are rubbing the %$&* out of my mouth.. I wish there was a way to have some relief. Just driving me bonkers. Not only that, but I've been having issues with keeping my double elastic on my hook. I'll hook both the elastics on my puny hook and then before I know it, it snaps off the hook. So I'm going to have to have my ortho put me some real hooks on my braces.

Anywho, besides those little hiccups, everything else is going good teeth wise. I really can't tell if anything has moved for this week, and if it has, then it's probably only a tiny amount. My next adjustment is quickly approaching and I don't know what's going to happen this go round. Hopefully, it won't be too painful, that last adjustment was something else...

That's all for now.

Bye!

Week 69: Rubbing Elastics...

This week, my elastics have been rubbing the inside of my mouth raw. It's pretty annoying. I know that they're rubbing because my teeth are moving but still, I wish it would stop.

I'm now sporting a teal chain, not because it's been changed but because it's been stained. I noticed it yesterday evening when I was brushing my teeth, I was like omg! It's actually a pretty color. lol It has like a metallic teal color to it.

Anyway, I mentioned movement above. My right side and midline are moving little by little. But I've also noticed that I'm starting to develop a space between my upper and lower teeth as my midline moves. It's not very big right now but I think once my midline lines up, it will be a lot bigger and my uppers will be off.

I did a search about class 2 elastics and was reading that sometimes the class 2 elastics will fix your overjet problem but it will also open your bite up on one side and then you usually have to have a triangle or zigzag configuration.

Sooooo.... when I go to my next adjustment, I'm going to find out how true that is. That way if I do have to have zigzag elastics, then I can mentally prepare myself.

So I'll update soon.

Week 68: No More Pain and A Comparison

Everything has settled down and the pain is gone. :) So the sunshine and rainbows can continue. lol

Last night, I was comparing the pictures that my ortho took before I got braces to my current braced pictures and I was soooo shocked... For one, I forgot what my teeth used to look like and I was amazed that my teeth had changed so much. It honestly looks like someone else's mouth and not my own.

I haven't taken pictures for this week, so I really don't know what's going on with the current state of my teeth.. So I'll give an update once, I take some pictures.

Honestly, I really don't see anything new as far as a weekly teeth update..

But the comparison pictures are awesome! :D

48 Hours After: Feeling a Little Better

Howdy,

My teeth are still a bit sore but not as bad as yesterday. I still can't chew very well but each day gets better and less painful and then I'll forget about it until the next adjustment. Sorry about the vent yesterday... lol! But I guess that's part of the reason why I made this blog, so I can not only write about my happy, awesome moments but also the painful moments...

I tell you though, even though having braces can sometimes be painful, I don't regret it. I love not only that my teeth and bite are being fixed but it's also fixed my self esteem and self conciousness issues. So I'm glad that I'm going through it! :)

*I think the sunshine and rainbows attitude is starting to peek through the clouds. lol

24 Hours After Adjustment.... Everything Hurts!

Hi!

How am I faring after a full 24 hours? In pain!

My face, teeth, ear, jaw, head... everything is hurting!

My ortho really wasn't playing around with this adjustment... sheesh. I took some ibuprofen but it only dulls the pain slightly.

Plus, my elastics don't help out the situtation because they're pulling on tender teeth. Just insane.

I'll be all sunshine and rainbows in a few days.. but as for today, it's lightening, gloomy, rainy clouds and hail. lol!

Bye.

Adjustment 11: One word.... OUCH!

Hi!

Today I had my 11th adjustment and it was a doozy!

After I was called back to the row of chairs, a new ortho assistant started pulling my doors open, removing my powerchains and wires (Her opening the doors was awful. She yanked them open so fast and hard, I thought she was going to pull my teeth out of mouth.) and told me that I could go brush and even floss if I needed to. I was a little surprised because I usually don't brush at each adjustment.

So I brushed my teeth and let me tell you, just seeing my teeth with just the brackets on and no wires, I was excited about how straight my teeth look and how they're going to look so good once they come off.

Anywho, after  that was done, I sat back in the chair and a different ortho assistant started working on my teeth, I was given sunglasses to wear over my eyes. (Again, totally new to me and I don't know why.)

She gave me a new stainless steel upper wire and it was sooooooo tight going in the bracket..... I actually cried out a few times, because it hurt a bit going in... She put the bottom wire in but I later found out that it wasn't stainless steel because my 6s and 7s (?) still aren't straight enough for the new wire. But it still is a new thicker wire.. I would assume probably a NiTi.

I asked if the stainless steel wire would be my last one and she said I would have it for a little while, since they'll have to make bends in the wire. I was also given upper and lower powerchains, because I have to continue to wear elastics. And they want to prevent me from having gaps appear.

Oh I also am back in colored powerchains. I have blue upper and lower chains.. They're purty! :D

After the new wires, powerchains and elastics, in the same configuration.... My mouth is pretty tender and I have to go back to soft foods for a few days.

My ortho said everything is moving along nicely, I just need to make sure I wear my elastics like I'm supposed to and it will all be corrected in no time!

So to anyone who's wearing elastics or anyone getting them soon, Please please please, WEAR THEM! They really do work and your teeth will move pretty fast.

Well that's all for now, going to go get more pain meds.

Bye!

Week 66

Ohayo Gozimasu! (Good Morning in Japanese)

All is well in the braces world again! I went this morning and picked up a package of rubber bands from the ortho office. They were open today! :D So I can finally chill out.... sorry about the spazz out moment... I seriously don't want to delay my treatment.

I really don't have any teeth related news, everything still looks the same as last week... So I will not take any pictures for this week. I'll post my pictures from last week soon. Been a tad busy..

But that's all for now!

A Tad Frustrated..

Hi!

All the spazzing I did on Thursday, really didn't do any good. I'm still without rubber bands... (I know this will def. not happen again, I really should have paid more attention to how many rubber bands I had.)

I even got up super early this morning in order to go to the ortho just to pick the rubber bands up but the office is closed... and they're usually open around 7:15. Sigh.. I'll just have to call them a little later to see if they're open.. if they're still not open, then I'll have to call my ortho's cell again...

Blah, just frustrating....

Spazzy Moment

Hihi,

It's crazy how much of a spazz I am about my teeth.....

I was putting on my rubber bands after lunch and realized that I was running kind of low.. So I took the rubber bands and grouped them up based on morning, afternoon and night wear and I would only have enough to last me until Saturday... Which meant that I would have to go like a day and half without wearing any elastics. (Remember: I'm supposed to wear my elastics 24/7.....)

I figured I would be ok, since the ortho is open Monday- Thursday... So I called the office and got a recording saying that the office was closed... I figured since it was still pretty early in the day that maybe I could call a little bit later.. I called 3 to 4 more times and the result was still the same..

So I start freaking out about having to wait a day in a half without any elastics... and of course.. my imagination is running wild and i'm thinking that my teeth are going to suddenly shift back to how they used to look and I was like nooooooo!

Anyway, the recording did give my ortho's cell number... but it said if it's an emergency.. I was really overanalyzing and going back and forth with myself about whether not wearing my elastics for a day and half was considered an emergency... (I really didn't want to bother my ortho too much, but I guess that's his job)

I finally called my ortho's cell and asked him if he could send me another pack of elastics and he said sure, he'll mail them out to me... Problem solved...

I went through all that when all I had to do was call my ortho's cell in the first place.... I'm so weird... lol

Week 65: Ohhhh... I'm Halfway There!! 15 Months!

Howdy!

Even though my ticker says 14 months and 1 day, I'm just going to say I'm at 15 months already.. (Plus I wanted to sing the song. lol! - Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi)

Anyway, my right side is looking better and better... I still have gaps but they're starting to close up. I also can see my midline shifting somewhat, but I still have a ways to go with that. I do know at my next adjustment, I'll be getting stainless steel archwires.. so I don't really know how to feel about that.

I'm also wondering if I'll have a new elastic configuration or if they'll just give me a new pack of Zebras and send me on my way.. hmm who knows..

Oh well, that's all for now!

Bye!

Dental Cleaning

Happy Friday!

I had a dental cleaning at 8am and everything went well. The dental hygenist told me that I had a little build up on my front teeth but besides that, my teeth were looking great. And that I was one of the best ortho patients she has seen. So that made me feel good, knowing that I'm cleaning my teeth really well. :D

After the dental hygenist finished cleaning my teeth then the dentist came over to look. He told me that I might not have to have any teeth extracted because of how my teeth are lining up but he's going to continue to watch them... I also asked him about the gingivectomy and he said that depending on how far my ortho brought my teeth down, then it might not need much of one but he said if I still did when my braces come off then he would let me know.

So we'll see what happens in the next year and some odd months. =]

Week 64

My teeth are still slowly moving but I can see a difference. They are really looking great. The only thing that kind of has me worried is once my midline is corrected, my right upper central is going to sit up higher and my right side is going to look lopsided.. Hopefully, my ortho can bring my upper right side down a bit more. I want everything to look straight.

I'm usually not a very picky person... but since I'm paying quite a bit of money to fix my teeth, I want everything to look right!

For the most part, I have forgotten all about my elastics... I forgot to take them out this morning and I started brushing my teeth... My toothbrush got caught on one my elastics and I couldn't figure out why it was stuck.... until I really looked and I'm like oops! and started laughing.

I truly am enjoying the braced journey! :)

Week 63: Sore from Rubber Band..

Hola!

So far, I'm seeing small amounts of movement. Even though this is a slower process, I'm still satisfied that at least my teeth are moving.

I woke up this morning with my rubber band pretty much embedded in my cheek... Now I'm sporting a nice sore on the inside of my mouth... =/ Believe I was sleeping on my left side and had my face buried in the pillow and that caused my elastic to press against my cheek... It did not feel good at all...

I also want my right side to move a little faster. My lower canine is pressing against my upper canine and every now and then I hear a creak and It feels like my upper canine is going to fall out. Everytime it happens, I quickly look in the mirror to make sure it's still intact. It is but I just think it's loose from moving.

That's about all for now!

Bye

My overjet seems to be decreasing more and more.
I'm so happy. :)

My left side is looking beautiful!!
My right side.... not so much...
Still needs a lot of work. =/

Week 62

Hi!

I don't think my teeth have moved or if they have, it's only minuscule amounts. Since I was excited about having elastics, I'm expecting my teeth to move in a matter of a couple of days lol, I should know better!

So I'll just continue taking pictures and wearing my elastics like I'm supposed to and we'll see what happens in like 6 weeks.

I don't have any pain with elastics anymore. I had some slight pain after 24 hours of having elastics but it was only in the morning. Mainly because I was clenching my teeth at night and then I'd open my mouth and it would hurt and ache.. I don't think I'm clenching anymore, so that's a good thing.

A funny story: Yesterday, I went over my parents house and I had not saw my dad since I got elastics... So I was talking to him and he interrupts me and says, what's that in your mouth?? I'm like rubber bands. He has this funny look on his face and he's ask me, why? So I tell him, that the elastics are going to move my jaw over some... He's like, So does that mean you're going to have a sideways jaw? I hope not....
Of course, I start laughing.. That was just hilarious.

One thing that made me feel good was my dad kept saying how great my teeth look! I was beaming! :D All I have to say is my ortho is a miracle worker! :)

Bye!

I was right about movement. I compared my overjet pic from my
adjustment to this current pic and my overjet has went in a little!
So exciting! :)

Quick Elastic Update

Morning!

I'm a little sore but other than that, I don't really have any pain. So the zebras decided to play nice in there. lol.

I honestly thought that elastics would be as painful as first getting braces, but it's no where near. I have the occasional rubbing and every now and then my elastics will pinch my lip. I also can't open my mouth very wide but I find it pretty funny, esp when I yawn... My husband tries is best not to laugh at me,  but I tell him it's ok, I'm laughing with you.

But overall, I'm happy to finally have elastics, now I don't have to worry anymore. Plus, I'll start having more progress! :) I'm really happy about that.

10th Adjustment Complete: Elastics!

Hi!

I'm back from my 10th adjustment and I was given the dreaded... ELASTICS...lol

Right now, they're really not so bad but then again I've only had them for 3 hours.

So I'll update how I feel in the morning.

Anywho, I had my lower wire changed to a thicker wire, so my lowers are going to hurt. They're also a little tender right now because the ortho assistant struggled to get the doors on my brackets open.. When she finally popped them all open, I was sweating a little from the pressure on my teeth...

I also had my powerchain changed and yes it's still clear... I think I was in too much of a daze about the elastics to even think about getting a colored chain. Oh wells.

I'm honestly happy about my elastics... Oh yeah! They are Zebras... and I looked them up on the ormco website, they're heavy...

The zebra doesn't look very friendly.....

I have to wear one on my left side from my lower 1st molar to my upper left cuspid and I have to wear two on my right side in the same configuration. They are class 2 elastics, so they're going to pull my overjet in some more as well as line up my midline. :) Happy to have more progress...

10th Adjustment Tomorrow :D

Howdy!

I'm excited about going to the ortho lol! Simply beccause I'm ready to see more movement. I know my teeth will ache from the new wire but such is braced life.

Plus, I'll be rid of this nasty powerchain... It's terribly discolored... I think since my gap is closed now, I'll ask for a colored powerchain as well.. Oh so tired of clear..

Anyway, I'll have an update tomorrow evening!

TMJ Issues Are Back.. =[

Hi,

I'm still having problems with my jaw. Whenever I open my mouth wide, like to  yawn, it pops and clicks, and just plain hurts. I'm still working on sleeping on my back but it's a chanllenge for me. So it could still be a combination of rolling over on my stomach and sleeping on my face and my teeth moving around but it's a little frustrating.

I didn't have this problem before braces even though my teeth were really messed up but my jaw was fine. But I wouldn't want to go back to having crooked teeth. It really brought me down and I had low self esteem. Even when my husband looked past the crooked teeth and just saw me for me and loved me anyway, I couldn't see past it. So even though I'm a little frustrated with my developing TMJ issues, I don't regret getting braces at all.

I'll just continue to work on sleeping on my back and hopefully by the time my braces come off and my bite is fixed that my TMJ issues will stop..

We'll see what happens in the year and a half to come. =]

Changes...

Welp, due to conflicts with work scheduling, I had to change my 10th adjustment for October 4th.. I'm not very happy about it at all but there's nothing that I can do about it. That's what happens when you don't have your license and have to depend on someone for a ride.... It really really sucks..

Even though that'll be 3 more weeks.. I wonder how far back I'm prolonging my treatment. Just really frustrating... I'm probably not going to take any new pictures until my 10th adjustment still because I think everything is still going to look the same until my next adjustment.

Week 58: Still the Same!

Hihi!

Everything is still the same.

I'm just going to wait until next week to post pictures since my 10th adjustment is Monday. :)

I'm actually looking forward to this adjustment. I just hope that I'm not getting my hopes up and then they'll be dashed because it's a boring appointment. So we'll see.

I'm also anxious about the cleaning before my adjustment because I'm hoping that I don't have any cavities. *fingers crossed*

Well bye for now!

Comparison Pictures - 1 Year

Howdy!

Ok, I'm finally getting around to posting my 1 year comparison pictures!

Not really liking how my upper right side is raised.
 Makes everything look lopsided lol
But, my teeth look 10x better now!

My upper arch is looking great!
It really has rounded out nicely :D

Lowers still need some work, they are still tipped outward..
But the arch is rounding out really nicely
and not a single tooth is crowded or overlapping the other one! :)

I had stopped taking overjet pictures because my overjet had decreased a significant amount.
I believe once my braces come off, I'll still have a slight overjet but it'll probably only be 1 to 2 mm.

My right side is looking better but still needs some work.

My left side is looking amazing.
Once I start elastics, it'll be perfect.

Omg, so much improvement!! :D

*Overall, I'm very happy with how my teeth look and can't wait to see what new and exciting changes this next year will bring! :D*

Shaping

I was wrong in one of my previous posts. I love how straight my teeth are, they look really good but I really do need some shaping done. My left central is longer than the right one. Plus, my right central is chipped. Some of my other teeth are a bit worn down. At one point, I was thinking that I was developing a cant on my lowers but after really looking in the mirror, some of my lower teeth are just longer than the others.
So yeah, hopefully I'll have some shaping in my future not only that but a gingivectomy to get rid of my gummy smile. I think at this point, the frenectomy and gingivectomy scares me more than elastics do but of course that's a totally different level. lol

*Also, working on 1 year comparison pictures, will have them up very soon!*

Week 57: 13 Months =]

Hi!

I'm a little late as far as posting this but better late than never. :p

I've made it to 13 months which actually surprises me. I was thinking that it would take forever just to get to a year and it's already flown by. When I actually say that I only have 17 more months to go, it really doesn't seem so far away. My teeth have really changed for the better and I know that they're just going to keep getting better.

I don't really have any updates on my teeth, everything has been normal. I'm just starting to wonder if this next appointment will indeed involve elastics. I'm a little excited about it, because that means my teeth are going to be on the move again. It definitely helps that I don't know for sure what's going to happen, then i'm not freaking out on the adjustment day. lol.

Ta ta for now!

*Pics coming soon* Did it again.. No pics for this week. Sorry

Week 56: Creaky Lower Molar

I feel like I just got braces all over again. My lower left first molar is creaking and  I continue to put my teeth together just to hear the sound... That sounds really weird but it's actually pretty amusing. lol

Everything still looks the same and besides a few teeth being sensitive due to deep fillings, everything is normal. So don't really have anything to post..

Week 55: Tipped Lowers

Howdy!

So far, I can't really see any movement with my lower 2nd premolar.. It still looks like it's in the same place. But I have noticed that my lower front teeth are tipped outward a bit. I remember at one of my adjustments my ortho saying that he was going to have to tip my teeth back but there really wasn't a lot of room in my mouth and he'd have to make some room some how. That makes me wonder if he's going to say, ok, it's extraction time! If I do need extractions, will it only be on the bottom or will he have to extract some of the top ones as well?

I guess that's something that will have to be asked at my next appointment. Crazy part, is my adjusment day is going to be a busy one. I'll have to have a dental cleaning earlier in the day, then my adjustment and then off to the eye doctor. So many appointments. lol!

That's all for now, folks.

Later

*Pics coming soon*  Forgot to take pictures.... Oops.

Week 54: Hardly Any Clicking or Popping =]

Hi!

A couple things on the good news list. The pain from my adjustment is pretty much gone and today is also the last day of my soft food diet. Yay, party!!

The second thing is my jaw hardly pops or clicks anymore. Changing the way I sleep has really helped... But some bad news about that... I'm still waking up several times a night, having to roll from my stomach to my back.. The weird part is even though I'm waking up often, I feel like my sleep is more restful.. So that's also another plus. :)

Anyway, my lower archwire is almost completely straight where my lower bracketed tooth is.. This new wire has been working wonders :) There really hasn't been anything new besides that..

I'll also start working on comparison pictures, since I made it to a year.

Bye!

May I have an IV Drip, Please?

Good Morning!

Last night was really rough. It took forever for me to get comfortable lying on my back, so I finally did drift off to sleep but I woke up about 4am and realized I was on my stomach. So it continued like that pretty much the rest of the night. I have nice, deep bags under my eyes from lack of sleep. I think instead of a regular cup of coffee, I need an IV drip, just a contious flow of caffiene to my veins this morning. Lol!

My teeth are dully aching but the cool thing is, I see movement already. I took pictures last night and then looked at my lowers again this morning and there's small movement. It really makes the pain worth it.

Also, I'm pretty hungry right now. This soft food diet is going to be tough but I'll make it through. I did it when I first got braces and I'll do it again now. Don't want to delay my treatment. :p

Well that's all for now.

Byeeee!

Week 53, Adjust 9: Small TMJ Issues

Hi!

So I had my adjustment today and.. it was ok.... I suppose.

My name was called and I went to the back and sat in one of the chairs. Before the ortho assistant could lean my chair back, I started telling her about the clicking and popping I've been dealing with lately in my jaw and she told me that it sounds like I'm beginning to develop TMJ problems. She said hopefully, when I started wearing elastics, that would clear it up but we'd have to see.

She began to open the doors on my brackets and there were a few that wouldn't open.... So she started tugging on them with her hook like tool.... It did NOT feel good........ She finally was able to get the doors open but sheesh, that was a pain in the butt. She also removed my wire tie that was around my newly bracketed tooth.

She removed the old wire and put a thicker wire on the bottom, 0.18 and just changed my powerchain on top... So my ortho comes over and she tells him what's going on and he's like ok....  well how do you sleep at night? I told him that I sleep on my stomach... he's like ok.. I want you to start sleeping on your back... Of course, I gave him a look like he crushed my dreams lol! Sometimes I can fall asleep on my back but I tend to roll over on my stomach... So this is going to be fun... -.-

So then he said, I also what you to go back on a soft food diet for a week, just to see if maybe the TMJ issues will stop... Again.... Dreams Crushed! I LOVE to eat, so it's going to be hard. I can see myself being a serious crab apple for a week. =x He also, told me to take some ibuprofen if I have any pain, because there may be inflammation back there... I just agreed to everything, knowing that if I don't do it, it could delay my treatment....

So after the ortho gave me instructions, I asked the ortho assistant what were we going to do next time. She said that they'll give me a thicker wire on the bottom and will do what she calls a reposi... Meaning, they'll take a X-ray of my mouth and then if the ortho doesn't like where some of my brackets are, he'll remove them and put them somewhere else on my teeth. So I guess in a way, I'll get to see what it's going to feel like when these bad boys come off..... I don't know if she meant at this next adjustment or the adjustment after, but she said that I'll probably start rubber bands....

Sounds like we're getting to the fun stuff, and at least things are happening. :)

Well that's all for now!

Week 52: Stained Glue

Hi!

Was super busy last week so, I didn't get a chance to take pictures. So no update for last week but I will make sure to take pictures for this week..

I continue to look at my pictures and I often comment on how yellow they look, but I actually think part of the reason is because my glue under my brackets is a bit a stained. So I'm sure once the braces come off, then my teeth probably won't be as yellow as I thought.

It seems like my lower tooth is in the same spot. Don't really think it's going to move too much more until a thicker wire is applied. So we will see. :)

Also, I've been struggling with my bristles on my tooth brush either getting caught on a sharp edge on my brackets or on a pokey wire and when I'm brushing, I'm kind of tugging on my brackets as the brush goes over teeth. It's really only in the back that I'm having this problem. So I guess I can mention that to my ortho.

Also, I need to make sure that I mention that my jaw has been clicking. It's been doing it a lot more frequently and I'm just wondering is my jaw settling or am I developing tmj issues? So will update on that soon.

Week 50: Tired Jaw

Hi

Some mornings I wake up and my jaw is pretty tired. I have to open and close my mouth a few times before it loosens up a bit. Or sometimes when I take the first bite of food, my jaw aches or pops a little. The popping doesn't hurt which is a good thing!

I just think because my bite is changing so much, my jaw gets kinda tired from all the movement. I'm not looking forward to the jaw tiredness that elastics will give me but oh well, I'll just deal with it.

In other news, my lower molar is steady moving, it still has some more movement to make, but it's happening pretty fast. :)

Week 49: Lower Tooth Almost Aligned =]

Howdy!

I think I'm in the home stretch as far as my lower molar scooting in line with the rest of it's buddies. The most surprising thing to me is I haven't had much discomfort or pain with this tooth moving in. I was really thinking it was going to be a painful experience but it has been a breeze. So that in itself is a blessing. :)

I have pictures from last week and for this week but I just need to work on them... Been busy with life and such. :p

Week 48: Lower Tooth on the Move!

Hiya!

I'm happy to report that I'm finally seeing movement with my lower right molar. It's starting to straighten up! I can't believe that very soon, it'll be completely in line with the other teeth.  :) I really have no idea what will happen after it's aligned. Maybe elastics?

Only one more month until it's been a year in braces. It really doesn't feel like it's been a year.. maybe 6 months at the most but hey, it's ok because that means i'm getting closer to having them off... Well, I'll still have a year and half to go but it won't take long at all..

Next month, I'll do a comparison of my teeth from all angles. So that should be fun...

No Pain at all! :D

Even though I was a little disappointed about my adjustment yesterday, I'm really glad that it wasn't too extreme because there's no pain whatsoever. It's great! Usually after an adjustment, I have to eat soft foods for a few days but yesterday, I was eating popcorn (very carefully) and it was good :D

If it were possible to have adjustments with no pain and have awesome amounts of movement that would be really nice. I just have to brace myself (no pun intended) for this next adjustment, Dr. M will probably go back to torturing me. lol!

See Ya!

8th Adjustment: Complete!

Hi!

My adjustment was pretty uneventful. I had to get up at 6:30 to make my 7:15 adjustment... I am not a morning person at all... Anyway, we made it to the ortho office and I signed in and waited on my name to be called.... The ortho assistant came out and said Alex, I thought it was me... Nope, it was a little 10 year old boy that they wanted. Talk about being embarrased.

When I finally was called, I was told that my ortho was going to do my adjustment. I guess they were a bit short staffed. So my ortho told me to open and close my mouth several times, and he looked at my wayward tooth and was like well, it's really moving, you can tell because the wire is pretty long. He's like we're going to leave the wire on the bottom and just change your powerchain for today.. I was a bit disappointed. I was hoping I'd have a wire change, plus some of my molar buildup removed.. Oh well, maybe next time. Got my wires clipped too, so I'm at least happy about that. :)

I really have no idea what's going to happen at my next adjustment... In a way, it's kind of a good thing, because depending on what it is, at least I don't have a reason to freak out. lol! For me, it's not being afraid of going to the ortho, it's just not knowing what's going to happen and how badly it's going to hurt...

8th Adjustment Almost Here.. =]

Only 4 days until my next adjustment and I'm actually kind of excited about getting a new wire for my  lower crooked tooth. Oh yeah, there's also the possibility that some of my molar build up will be shaved down. So it's kind of cool. I'm not really looking forward to the pain that will come with the wire change, but I just have to keep telling myself that the pain is only temporary. =]

Week 46: White Spots and Loving the Shape of my Teeth...

Hi!

It still doesn't look like my teeth have been moving very much... I have noticed that my lowers are a bit crooked but I think it's because of the flexible wire. I won't have the wire for much longer, in 6 days, my lowers will be upgraded. :)

After I eat, use my interdental brush and then brush my teeth, I tend to have white spots on my teeth but it's only on like my front 4 upper teeth. So at first, I freaked out a little and was thinking, omg! decalcification?? but I took my interdental brush and scrubbed a little where the white spots were and... it's plaque... lol! Just need to brush a little better.

I had the same thing happen to me the other night when I was flossing, there was so much plaque between my teeth, it was crazy... o.o

Anywho, everytime I'm in front of a mirror and I slightly open my mouth, and see the way my upper teeth curve.. I seriously love the shape of my teeth.. It's kinda shocking to open my mouth and see straight teeth for one but maybe I'm just weird but I really do love the shape... When the braces do come off, hopefully, there wil be minimal shaping. So we shall see...

Week 45: Still Nothing... At A Standstill

Soo... I'm finally at the point where I feel nothing is happening. Doesn't look like my lower wonky tooth has moved anymore. It's just sitting there chilling. My uppers still look the same. Oh wells, maybe after I take pictures, I'll see something?

Until Next Time!

Week 44: All the Same..

Howdy!

This week in the braces world... I can't really tell if anything else has moved. It all looks the same.

My wire on the bottom has gotten longer and is poking me like crazy... I forgot to get it clipped last week. Ooops.! lol I'll just wait until my next adjustment.

Sometime last year, before braces, I had cracked my upper left 1st molar and had to have it filled... I believe that my other upper 1st molar is cracked as well. Lately, whenever I'd bite down, I'd hear a cracking sound and have a little pain. It doesn't sound like loose teeth but more like a cracking tooth. I'll keep my eye on it and if it gets worse, then I'll make a trip to see the dentist. :p

But that's all I have for this week.

10 Months!! :D

Time is just trotting along! It's been 10 months since I became a brace face and I couldn't be happier. I complain and whine a lot about the pain but I don't regret my decision at all. Going from being shy and covering my mouth whenever I would laugh or talk to smiling like crazy and not worrying about being self consious anymore. It's really great!

I'm still a little shy but it's not like it used to be at all. Lately, I've been walking up to people and starting conversations and not having that fear. I don't even think twice about it now, it just comes naturally. Which is a bit weird to me but I'll go with it. lol

When my braces are removed, my ortho is getting a huge hug because he's helped me so much. :)

Week 43: Moved a Little.. But Not Enough..

Bonjour!

I went to the ortho today to have my blue glue glob shaved down but it didn't happen. (sad face)

My ortho looked in my month and said well we won't be able to remove some of the glue today, you're still biting on the bracket and your tooth hasn't moved enough like I thought it would... Talk about bursting my bubble! lol

So it was really a wasted visit. :(   Stuck with the blue glue glob for the next 4 weeks. But maybe, they'll be able to remove some then. My wire on my lower arch will be changed. So that'll be progress. :D

I'm just glad that my tooth has moved some and there's a difference when I brush behind that tooth. It feels a lot cleaner. That's a plus.

Crying? Nope! A little Sore? Yeah..

Hai!

So far, there is only a little soreness and it's really only in the area where the bracket was applied. So there will not be any tears shed and no whiny posts either. :)

My thin, flexible wire is really only working on the newly bracketed tooth. It's trying to wake it up so it can start moving. So I'm ok with that. Any adjustment that will bring me the least amount of discomfort is welcome.

Another good piece of news is, I can chew a bit but it has to be chunks of food. Otherwise, the smaller pieces of food will have to be swallowed whole. Like eating lettuce from a salad was pretty much a no go. Green beans and chunks of chicken, I ate just fine. My stomach definitely thanked me. lol

Week 42, Adjustment 7: Today, I Officially Hate Blue Glue...

Hi!

I had my 7th adjustment today and there was a lot done...

My doors on my brackets would not open and the ortho assistant was tugging and pulling, my teeth started hurting... She finally got them open but mmm... did not feel good. so my ride on the pain train is coming... All Aboard! lol

My last tooth is finally bracketed, added to the arch wire and it has a wire tie on it. (When my tooth moves, they don't want the wire to pop out.) I also went back down to a thin flexible wire on my lowers.
Because of the position that my tooth was in, when the bracketed was added, I bit down and we realized that it was the bracket that I was gnawing on. SO, I now have more blue glue on my right 1st molar. My teeth don't touch at all and I can't chew anything.. :( Back to soft foods :( (Correction: I can chew but it has to be chunks of food)

My lower 2nd molars aren't attached to the archwire either, which feels weird because I'll stick my tongue back there and there's this space where the wire used to be.

I do have to go back next week to have them shave down the glue some.. So that does make me a little happy. Really, the glue won't be there for very long, since my tooth will probably fall in line pretty quickly.

The only thing that the assistant did to my uppers was give me a new powerchain. I was hoping that I'd be done with them but I guess I have to have it for retention purposes.
I did have to have another X-Ray for the right side of my face. I don't know what it was for but they are going to be monitoring something. So I will have to remember to ask when I go back next week.

One cool thing, is Dr. M continued to comment on how great my uppers looked and how they have changed so much. I'm sure on the inside he was patting himself on the back, like wow, I did a great job. *pat, pat* lol.

I didn't like this adjustment too much but I'll get over it. The pain is on it's way and I'll try not to whine too much.

Week 41: Can't See Anything New in There...

Hi!

So far everything looks the same as last week. So really don't have much to post...

My adjustment is almost here, still not looking forward to it but oh wells. It will be ok...

I did find another use for my floss threader (Don't worry, they weren't used floss threaders.. lol) :D It's good for stringing beads on crochet thread.  I couldn't find a needle small enough to string the beads so, I decided to try a floss threader. It works pretty good! Because it's so flexible, the beads slide right  down the threader and on to the crochet thread. I was able to complete two sets of crochet beaded earrings for Mother's Day. It was awesome!

Week 40: Working Myself Up Again... Lol..

Hola!

I only have 13 days until my next adjustment and I have kind of worked myself up again... It's not the thing about having my tooth bracketed (even though I believe that it's not going to be pleasant) Since the gap between my two front teeth is completely closed, it has me wondering if my ortho is going to refer me to an oral surgeon to have a frenectomy...

I've tried to look up as much information as I could about the frenectomy and even watched a video of how it's done... (Big mistake) lol but I don't know, I'm still not too excited about it at all...

Before I had my lower wisdom teeth removed, I was freaking out... Even on the day of, when I was hooked up to all the machines, my heart rate was like skyrocketing... lol! Really it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be because I was asleep and just completely out of it...

Anyway, enough of my whining about the frenectomy... On to the progress...

My teeth have felt pretty tight lately and I've even had a couple teeth that have been tender but all in all everything's looking good. The spaces where my upper and lower teeth are actually closing up.. Didn't realize that my upper teeth were being pushed further back.. It's really neat..

The crazy part is I'm really having a hard time remembering what my teeth used to look like.. I have to go back and look at old pictures and I'm like WHOA! Then I compare the old to the current and I'm just stunned pretty much. I know that there's still more to be done but I'm really happy the way everything is looking!

Lol, I couldn't resist. Love Tetris. :D

Adios! :)

9 Months and 2 days!

In the time that it takes to have a baby, I have made so much progress with my teeth it's awesome! In 3 months, I will be at a year and then I'll only have a year and half to go.. Not bad. :D

It feels like I just got braces like a month ago.. Boy, how time flies

Bye! :)

Week 39: Same as last week..

I regret to inform you that.... I didn't get a chance to take pictures for last week, so you'll just have to settle for this weeks pictures. As far as I can tell, everything still looks the same as last week. So that's a plus. :p

The great thing is my teeth are on the move because I have a pokey wire trying to make a home in my cheek again. I'm going to try to wait until my next adjustment to have it clipped. Really don't feel like going to the ortho just to have a wire clipped. Oh wells..

Week 38: Jaw Popping, Tender Teeth

Hiya!

Lately, I've been noticing that every now and then my jaw will pop whenever I move my mouth. It usually doesn't hurt, just feels weird. I would say that it's only hurt like 2 times. I'm pretty calm about it, since I figure it's just my biting shifting and changing.

Today... my lowers have been tender... which means movement (yay) but mm doesn't feel good clicking my teeth together. lol!

My gum has also been a little swollen around my upper left 2nd molar.. as long as there's not an infection under my gum, we'll be good. I still remember when I had an abscess and my dentist had to flush it out... O.M.G talk about PAINFUL!!! Don't want to go through that again.

A nice, big glass of warm salt water will be in my future. lol

Week 37: No more gap... Now what?...

My gap closing was the highlight of my week, last week. Between staring at my two front teeth obsessively in the mirror and running my tongue along the backs of my two front teeth, I don't know what to do with myself. lol

I've been so busy, I really haven't had time to post and take pictures. I'll try to make some time.

Update: I can see a difference in my bite when I put my teeth together. The space is getting smaller. Braces alone won't be able to fix the spaces, that's where the dreaded elastics will come in.. =x

My upper arch is crooked a bit but it's round and it looks good..

In such a short amount of time, I can say that I'm really happy with the way my teeth look.

But I have been wondering something, before braces, my two front teeth looked alot longer, so I was thinking that when they straightened out they would look longer but they actually look shorter which gives me a gummy smile... Guess that's just something I'll have to ask my ortho.

One Brackted Lower Tooth Coming Right Up!

I was right about my lower tooth being bracketed and brought back in the arch...

Sigh... I can tell I will not be looking forward to my7th adjustment. The good thing is that I have some time before I go back but having this last tooth bracketed is going to be very painful. When one of my upper left teeth was finally added to the archwire... the whole left side of my mouth hurt for about 4 days straight.. It was awful!

Oh well, I'll just take a couple ibuprofens and keep it moving... The pain is all a part of braces...

*Says weakly* No Pain, No Gain... lol!

Quick Update

Besides a teeny, weeny, itty, bitty micro space between my two front teeth, my gap is pretty much gone!!! It makes waking up at 5am because my mouth was hurting, TOTALLY WORTH IT!! WOOO! :D

On a cute note, As I said above, I woke up at 5am because my mouth was in pain. So my cat, Oreo, curled up on my chest and was falling asleep. She woke up, looked at me, and moved a bit so that her body was pressed against the right side of my face (where I was having the most pain). She put her paw on my hand and just purred and was generating heat and acting as a heating pad. It's amazing how animals can sense when you're not feeling well and they try to comfort you. :D

Week 36: Small Kink in Coil Spring and Adjustment 6

Howdy!

Last night, I had a bit of a problem... I was eating salad with green olives for dinner and I wasn't thinking but instead of chewing the olive slowly and carefully.. I chomped down on it and I felt something really weird in my mouth... Well at first I thought I had bent my wire where my coil spring was and I started freaking out a bit.. but when I checked it this morning, it was more like a tiny bend in the coil spring. Not only that but my tooth was pretty sore from the small kink in the spring...

( It looks a lot worse in the pic than in person. lol)

So.. I went to the ortho today for my 6th adjustment and so far things are looking good. The assistant told me that we're almost ready to bring my tooth into the arch. There's almost enough space. I think at my next adjustment is when they're going to bracket the tooth and start bringing it in. She also said the small kink in the coil spring was no big deal but I must have hit the spring in the right spot or my tooth was moving, since it was a little sore.

She checked the wire under the spring and everything was fine. I just have powerchains on my uppers and nothing on the lowers :D I didn't have a wire change but that's ok. Guess I'm just not ready for new wires yet. No elastics either. So.. It was a good adjustment. lol!

Week 36: Adjustment 6th tomorrow... Not Nervous...

Hey!

I haven't really seen alot of movement.. besides my gap being almost closed and having two new gaps on each side of my upper centrals.

I'm just glad that my adjustment is tomorrow.. I can finally get new powerchains, tired of these ugly, stained yellow ones. I really don't know what's going to happen with this adjustment. I'm hoping that I'll have something new to report and it won't just be a disappointing visit.

Week 35: 8 Monthiversary.... 22 more months to go!

Hihi!

I can't believe it's been 8 months. I thought that it would take forever to get to this point but it really hasn't. Only 4 more months and it will be a year and then I'll only have a year and a half to go before they're removed. So neat! :)

This week, the only teeth that have moved a little more are my central incisors. My gap is almost gone.

I did call the ortho because I was a little confused on when I should have a frenectomy done. I didn't know if I needed to wait until my gap was almost closed. (Like my dentist told me) or if I needed to wait until after my braces were removed. My ortho told me that I had to wait until my gap was completely closed and then I would be given a referral to get it clipped.

So that means my frenectomy is going to happen very soon.. I will probably have a small melt down about it in the near future..

*Pics coming soon*

Week 34: Left Central Aches a Little... Movement! :D

Hi!

My left Central tooth has been aching off and on for the past couple of days, which is good, it means there is movement. :D

Last week, after looking at my pictures and just comparing them, I realized that my teeth have moved a bit more. My gap is almost gone :D!! and my upper arch is so rounded, it's insane. The gap on my lower arch is almost wide enough to fit my tooth back in the arch.

It's just great! Plus, I was comparing pictures from day one until now and it's amazing how much my teeth have moved. It's so wonderful.

Ciao

Yellow Ligs Again... Thanks, Doritos!

Bad idea to eat doritos when you have clear ligs... The cheese dust sure knows how to make my ligs yellow.

I have a few weeks before I go for another adjustment, so I'll just have to keep smiling with a "cheesy" grin... Oh well. lol!

The important thing was that I didn't break anything and I enjoyed my doritos! :) Haven't had doritos in a while but now, I'm on a chocolate kick. I'm just glad chocolate won't stain my ligs brown... that would be gross!!  =x

Week 33: Nothing New.. =/

Howdy!

Well it seems like everything is pretty much at a stand still, I haven't noticed anything new going on with my teeth. My teeth do look pretty good in only 7 months time, but I can't wait to see what they'll look like in another 7 months. Going to be awesome! :)

Gingivectomy and Frenectomy in the Future...

Since I know that I'll need both done, I decided to look that stuff up on google.. Big Mistake.. lol!

I'm a bit freaked out.. They both just sound awful. I know I won't have the gingivectomy until my braces come off so that's a good thing but the frenectomy will happen sooner than later. I know it probably won't happen but I'm going to try to get them to put me to sleep.. I don't want to be awake for it at all... =x

Week 32: Dental Cleaning =]

Hi!

My cleaning went really well. All the brushing and flossing has been paying off. No cavities!! So I'm stoked about that.

My dentist told me that after the braces came off, that if I wanted to have my gums shaped, I could do that. So that's something I'll definately have to look into. There's still a possibility that I may have to have premolars removed but we'll see about that later.

The dental hygenist didn't remove my powerchain, so I didn't have to get that replaced but I did go to the ortho to get those dreaded wires clipped and that was great.. The funny part is the wire she snipped was so tiny... I thought it was going to be a really long piece of wire but not quite. lol

So today was a really good day. :)

Floss Adventures... -.-

I ran out of oral b threader floss sometime last week and I had just bought a new pack but realized later that it was superfloss... So I tried to floss with the super floss and umm that was a no go.. Since It's for gappy teeth, it made my gaps that we're trying to close open up wider.. So I said ok, I just won't floss tonight.

So I tried again the next night because the super floss also has regular floss on the end of it. So I started flossing with it and ended up cutting my uppger gum... So I gave up on flossing again that night... Have to confess that I probably went like 2 or 3 days without flossing and I really started freaking out... Because I don't want my teeth to rot out of my head. lol I know going a few days without flossing won't hurt but I still worry about it..

Anyway, Yesterday I found the floss, that the ortho gave me on my brace day, and my floss threaders... So I was like ok, let's go back to the basics and use these things... I forgot how much I hated floss threaders... until last night..

It was so much slower to use having to keep threading the floss in the threader and then threading the threader under the wire... and not to mention the floss that the ortho gave me was not agood floss... It shredded and got caught on my pokey wire and I had floss particles stuck between my teeth and the floss was wrapped around the wire and bracket. It was a mess!!!

Luckily, I got the floss untangled and most of the shredded floss out.. I was thinking I was going to break something... but didn't, thank God..

I found an easier way to floss with the floss threader. I had just bought a thinner floss. So I took the thinner floss and tied it to the threader and it was just like having oral b floss... but the only problem with it, is I had to throw the threader away because I couldn't get the tiny knot unloose. But I can always get more.

On a very positive note though, I ordered 4 packs of threader floss and they are on their way! :D So I'm happy about that!

Week 31: Pain all Gone, Gap is Small, No More Pity Party

Hi!

Sorry about last week, I was throwing myself a pity party because I was in so much pain... I really need to quit doing that.

Anyway, my gap is so little now.. I don't know what to do with myself. I have never had my gap that small, it's always been a wide open space. It's so neat...

It seems like my midline is kind of shifting a bit. It doesn't look as crooked to me but maybe my eyes are deceiving me. lol!

I really don't have anything else to report...

Cleaning and Ortho Appointment Same Day... Booo...

The positive to all this, is I can get my wires clipped sooner, because I just thought about my powerchains being taken off for the cleaning... and how I would have to probably go to the ortho to have them replaced.

I'm just glad I thought about it ahead of time... but still don't want to have to go to both. I'd rather just go to the ortho and get my wires clipped and be done.. But I have to take care of my teeth...

I think I'll just move into the ortho's office, then that way any time there's a problem, I'll be right there to have it taken care of. -.-

The life of braces...

Bye!

7 Monthiversary! Yay!

Welp I've hit the 7 month mark. When I first got braces, I thought that 7 months seemed so far away but really it wasn't... In 5 more months, it will be a year. That's going to be so great! Then I'll only have a year and a half to go.. lol.. I'm just mind boggling how wires can move teeth and in 7 months, I've def. had some amazing progress.. It's wonderful! :D

I finally had to dust my wax off and use it today. I have pokey wires, (Yes.. I'm sure they're pokey's this time, I can see them.. lol!) that are starting to stab me and I just don't want to go back to the ortho ... So I'm going to have to try and keep wax covering the wires until it gets unbearable... (That won't be necessary... I have to go back anyway...) I really hate that I didn't get them clipped at my adjustment...

Oh wells! I'll just deal with it...

Adjustment 5 Day After: On the Left Side of Pain...

I didn't sleep good at all last night... I really do look like a walking zombie..

The left side of my mouth is killing me. I took some pain meds before I went to bed but they really didn't do anything. I've never known the feeling of having an achy roof of the mouth until today..

I also didn't think about it when I was at the ortho yesterday but I forgot to get my wires clipped and they're really starting to get long..

But besides all the pain, I can see that my gap is pretty much non existant between my two front teeth. SO this pain that I'm feeling is worth it. I just have to keep telling myself that.

On a even brighter note, tomorrow makes it 7 months since becoming braced. Time really is flying. It's just amazing that I'm getting closer and closer to a year... :D Even though I complain about the pain, I don't regret my decision to get braces. AT. ALL.

Adjustment 5: No New Wires!! Yay!!

Ok, I was worrying for no reason. I didn't get new wires like I was told. I guess because I'm not quite ready for them. I just have new clear *boring* powerchains, a new spring and the hole in my molar build up has been fixed.

So I'm as happy as a clam. :)

I asked my ortho about my back molars and he said well we're going to try to put them in the proper position... meaning we're going to try to upright them. I'm thinking oh no! Just as I thought.. but it's all good. That probably won't be for a little while.

It seems like since my new powerchain was placed on the top, that my gap between my two front teeth has suddenly gotten smaller. I can not stop smiling... Also my left central is throbbing, like someone punch me in just that one tooth. lol but it's good. Keep moving teeth, keep moving!

*Forgot to take a pic of my upper arch... Sorry folks.* lol  I was wrong... I have an upper arch pic for this week.. It was in hiding...

Bye Bye~
